Laboratory News
- June 5, 2009. Congratulations to Ms. Yaling Cai, who just finished her B.S thesis and was ranked "Excellence". Yaling's thesis was focusing on the theoretical elucidationg of excitation spectra of anion-acceptors. This project is a joint work with Prof. Y.B. Jiang's group, who work on the experimental side.
- June 1, 2009. Our manuscript entitled "Homoconjugation/Homoaromaticity in Main Group Inorganic Molecules"
has been eventually accpeted for publication in J. Am. Chem. Soc.. This work was consecutively conducted by
Qin Zhang (Ph.D student graduated in 2007) and Shiping Yue (M.S. Student Graduated in 2008).
In this project, we also cooperated with Profs. P.v.R. Schleyer (UGA) and Zhongfang Chen(UPR).
The first paper (coauthored by Qin Zhang) of this project was published in Inorg. Chem., 2006. We are currently investigating the electron-delocalization/homoconjugation in S4N4, S4N5(+/-) and related inorganic multicyclic systems and the organic systems comprising of TCNQ/TCNB anions.
- Dec. 23, 2006. Lunch Meeting to celebrate the coming of the New Year!
- Dec. 20, 2006, Congratulations! Xin Wu's manuscript entitled
"Dimetalloendofullerene U2@C60 Has A U-U Multiple Bond Consisting of Sixfold One-Electron-Two-Center Bonds"
(manuscript ID ja067281g) has been accepted for publicatione in J. Am. Chem. Soc..
This is his third paper. His second paper concerning
the structures of M2C2@C78 (M=Ti, Zr, Hf) endofullerenes will be published in J. NanoSci & NanoTech.
in early 2007. As a second-year M.S. student, Xin made amazing achievements in the past year.
- Dec. 12, 2006. A new Lenovo PC-cluster has landed in our laboratory. This is a 24-node cluster, each node having two 2-core Woodcrest 3.0GHz CPUs and being connected by Infiniband.
This purchase amounting to 1 million RMB is supported by the "985 Project". This cluster will be set up and put into service within two weeks!
- Feb. 23, 2006, the manuscript "Pericyclic transition-state-like aromaticity in inorganic ions" (
first author: Qin Zhang) is published online in Inorg. Chem. as an ASAP article.
- Dec. 20, 2005, a joint manuscript entitled "Isolation and Characterization of Sc2C2@C68: A metal-carbide endofullerene with a non-IPR carbon cage" was finally accepted for publication
as a communication in Angew. Chem. This joint job was done by X. Wu and X. Lu (in charge of the theoretical part) in cooperation with Prof. C. R. Wang's group (in charge of the experimental part) at ICCAS.
- Dec. 6, 2005, Dr. K. Tan's manuscript on Sc3C2@C80 was finally accepted
for publication as a full paper in J. Phys. Chem. B. According to the publishing editor of JPCB,
the publication of this paper is scheduled on Feb. 16, 2006.
